Historical romance lovers will want to watch Jenna Petersen

Katherine Fleming has picked her fiancé with care. She's not looking for love, just a match with friendship and respect. When she meets her future brother-in-law Dominic on a terrace during a party, the last thing she wants is the attraction she suddenly feels for him. However her world suddenly comes crashing down around her with the news that her fiancé's late wife, who had been presumed lost at sea, is alive after all.

Dominic has wanted Katherine from the moment he met her. His brother offers him Katherine's hand in marriage in order to protect both her and family from further scandal. With the added incentive of learning the secret of his parentage which has haunted him for years, he agrees. Neither expects to find love in this marriage of convenience, but the longer that they are together, the more they find themselves falling in love. Can they both let go of the demons of their pasts and take a chance in letting someone else into their heart?

I love historical romances, but it's not often that I find an author who writes a romance that I truly enjoy. Dominic and Katherine are both wounded characters whose past makes them unwilling to trust their hearts. Both are compelling and I found myself quickly absorbed with them and their relationship. Jenna Petersen is definitely an author to watch for those who love historical romance. I, for one, will be waiting to see what she offers us next. With Scandalous, Jenna Petersen delivers!

Fantastic, hot, satisfying book!

I loved both the hero and heroine! THis is a debut author with many good books yet to come. The chemistry between the h/h was tremendous and there was a lot of thought put into their personalities. Both were very likable. The hero was one of those tough-on-the-outside, but sweet and vulnerable on the inside men that I love to read about, and the conflict, I felt, was good. I don't think I skipped a page and I read it in one day.

Sensual Scandalous Debut

How delighted I was with the pleasurable erotic historical romance anthology "Parlor Games" and one of the stories by the author Jess Michaels aka Jenna Petersen. So it is no wonder why the historical romance debut of "Scandalous" has wonderful sensual shades of Jess Michaels' erotic touch. On a terrace in the moonlight the handsome and sensual Dominic Mallory sees the beautiful Katherine Fleming enjoying the snow and the stars. Immediately he thinks of this beauty in his bed, but later when he discovers that she is the fiance of his estranged brother Colden, he must back away. But in a strange twist Dominic finds himself quickly engaged and married to the sensual beauty, when his brother's dead wife returns from the dead. Colden insists that Dominic marry Katherine in order to avoid scandal, as Colden has already spent her dowry and in turn he will give Dominic the family lands he has always wanted. As Dominic and Katherine begin their life on his new estate, the passion and desire builds to love, but little does Katherine realize the treachery and lies that she has married into with the Mallory family. When Dominic's identity is revealed to her and she discovers he married her only for access to the lands so he can discover his father's identity, and that Colden, his wife Sarah and other family members were involved in the lies, she is devastated. When Dominic realizes that in his lifelong quest for truth about his paternity, he may lose Katherine, he makes a decision to keep Katherine, but is it too late? The story is sensual and mysterious with underlying treachery that culiminates to an intense conclusion making the reader realize that no matter how scandalous, true love conquers all.

Hmmm Hmmm Good

Hmmm Hmmm good. Fine cannabis recipes from the basics for newcomers to those who have mastered the art of cannabis cuisine. Being a person somewhere in the middle, it has opened new horizons. Pastries are great, but stretching into the realm of home cooked entrees broadens one's culinary experience.

Of note - I have a chronic disabling physical condition . I am a medical marijuana patient, recognized by my state of residence as a person allowed to posses and consume cannabis products. Those not in a position to legally consume cannabis products read this book at their own risk. The recipes alone will give you the munchies. Just another example of the insanity imposed by some government agencies to keep people from consuming the medically and psychologically sacred herb. A person should not be required to have a physically disabling condition in order to legally eat a brownie.

Awesome cookbook.

This is full of great recipes, but no measurements for the Cannabis parts. In the beginning they give you two tables, one for recreational dosing and the other for medicinal dosing, both of which are confusing. So, the recipes are awesome, but I wouldn't recommend this book for inexperienced cookers.

Good cookbook, even without the cannabis

The recipes in this book are quite different than what I was expecting, but are delicious nonetheless. The instructions for making cannabutter/ghee and cannaflour are very useful, though in practice not always as easy as stated. All the recipes are very easily adapted to exclude the cannabis, and are very good on their own. Many recipes call for adding fresh pot to the dish (e.g. tossing ground buds into a salad, or stirring some into guacamole), and the taste can be quite strong. This cookbook isn't for someone just looking for brownie and cookie recipes. Many dishes included are somewhat labour intensive, but are certainly beneficial for medicinal marijuana patients looking to maintain a steady level of THC in their bodies, as the book contains recipes for any time of day. I would suggest trying a recipe out first without the pot, to work out any kinks. The recipes are meant to replace smoking marijuana (as that was the author's goal), so the proportions might seem a bit staggering at first. It's hard to watch 1/4 oz. get turned into hot chocolate, but that's why I suggest trying the recipes out pot-free first. It's easier than wasting good bud on a dish you don't like. All in all, it's a good cookbook, with well-thought-out recipes, and many interesting facts about cannabis and the people who've made history in the world of pot.

It's a Winter Wonderland

This wonderful kit comes with a great 68-glossy page colored instruction booklet which includes 13 extra pages of templates that you can Xerox to make more buildings. Your kit includes top quality perforated, scored and prepunched sheets for a Steepled Church, English Tudor Rival, Center-Hall Colonial, Sweet Alpine Home, Picket Fence, Doghouse, Show-Covered Evergreen Trees, Winter Oak Trees and a Snowman. A bottle of glue and 4 bottles of glitter (2-white, 1 blue and 1 red) are included as well. Everything that you need to make this village is supplied. This will look so cute flocked and set up w/LED tea lights inside of each building. This product exceeded my expectations and I was very impressed. The author did an outstanding job on providing crafters of all ages with an easy and timeless kit to enjoy.

Super Value, but with a flaw in the templates

I have been making these little houses from patterns that I cut out of heavy card stock with an exacto knife. This made the process so very much easier, since they are already cut and scored at the fold lines. Everything you need to make some really cute houses and a church are included. The price was great, too!

Update....I originally gave this five stars but........at the back of the book, there are templates for each building. After enlarging and cutting out all the pieces for the church, the pieces did not fit together. I measured the templates in the book and found that they are not to scale to each other, which makes them pretty much useless. Perhaps this flaw explains the low purchase price.

But if you only want to build the buildings provided and never use the templates, it will make a cute village.

Neat little set

To save me the trouble of searching for and printing out paper Christmas village houses online, I decided to buy this little "Build a Christmas Village" kit. I have to say it was an awesome buy. Everything was extremely easy to punch out and glue together. They were also a joy to decorate. I'm almost jealous I have to send them with my husband to work (for his desk). All in all, it was a great buy for a great product. It would be cool if the guy who made this kit could make one for Halloween, as well. Or perhaps even more extra houses to go with the Christmas village collection. *hint* *hint*

As a person in their late 20's, i could personally relate to many of the topics in these essays. I enjoyed the book very much, because rather than giving advice about or breaking down the "quarter-life crisis," this book just gives insight about what it's like to experience it.

I found this book to be helpful to me at a crossroads in my life. The heartfelt and true stories within the pages of this book enabled me to find the courage to make an incredibly difficult decision during the most difficult time in my life thus far. It was a decision that I knew I needed to make for a long time but could not find the courage to do so until I read this collection of essays and realized that there were other people in the world who also have had to make enormous life altering decisions that affected not only their own lives but others' futures as well. I have purchased this book for a few college graduates, but I recommend this book to anyone at any age.

A rare book!

Peter Levenda continues to establish himself as an author of deep learning and incisive investigation into the esoteric with the publication of "The Tantric Alchemist." His newest work is at once an earnest representation of meaningful scholarship combined with bold interpretations and thoughtful meditations that are born only after an extensive, life-long consideration of difficult spiritual questions. A writer friend who has also enjoyed the majority of Peter Levenda's topically varied prior work commented excitedly to me that the author's thinking and prose has "truly flowered" in beauty and style with the publication of "The Tantric Alchemist." I will only say again that "The Tantric Alchemist" is a rare book, gorgeously bound by Ibis Press, and destined to become a classic.

A topic of quite esoteric nature--not unlike the discussions of St Germain or Flamel or Knights Templar or alchemical notions of sexuality. Levenda's previously published The Dark Lord is to my mind a stunning work, especially as regards the
information about inner tantric symbology.
With his current work one finds a topic less available for anyone's incursions, but
this says more about the nature of the topic being what it is. With this publication Levenda helps one to further
penetrate the mysteries involved, rather like when one glimpses Jacob Bohme's
actual meaning in one or another rare moment when this is made possible.

About the Author

Lorraine Anderson grew up on a chicken ranch in the Santa Clara Valley of California in the days when it was still known as the Valley of Heart’s Delight, when blossoming orchards stretched as far as the eye could see in springtime. She contains the imprint of the earth’s beauty in her cells. She edited Sisters of the Earth: Women’s Prose and Poetry About Nature (1991, second edition 2003), co-edited At Home on This Earth: Two Centuries of U.S. Women’s Nature Writing (2002), and co-authored Cooking with Sunshine (2006). An adjunct professor at Linn-Benton Community College in Corvallis, Oregon, she holds a BA in English from the University of Utah (1975) and an MA in creation spirituality from Naropa University (2000).

 

Scott Slovic has been a professor of literature and environment at the University of Nevada, Reno, since 1995, where he directed the Center for Environmental Arts and Humanities from 1995 to 2002, co-founded the Graduate Program in Literature and Environment, and currently directs the Core Writing Program. He has written, edited, or co-edited nineteen books in the field of ecocriticism and environmental literature, including Seeking Awareness in American Nature Writing (1992), What’s Nature Worth? (2004), and Going Away to Think (2008). He served as the founding president of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment from 1992 to 1995 and since 1995 has edited the journal ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment. A three-time Fulbright Scholar (in Germany, Japan, and China), Scott has lectured and taught in many countries throughout the world.

 

John P. O’Grady was born in New Jersey and born again in the mountains of the American West. As an undergraduate he studied forestry, believing that this was a chance to dwell in deep groves and sequestered places, but when he realized resource management is not an appropriate practice for one who delights less in the chainsaw than in the standing oak, he moved on to pursue graduate studies in English. For a number of years he served as professor of literature and environmental studies. He has lived in California, Idaho, Montana, and Pennsylvania. Now he’s in the Catskill Mountains of New York, where he continues to write. He is the author of Grave Goods (2001) and Pilgrims to the Wild (1993).

Literature and the Environment: A Reader on Nature and Culture has been an invaluable resource and platform for discussion in my high school literature class that centers around the natural world and man's place in it. The essays, poems, and excerpts avoid groupthink, polarization of issues, and are, for the most part, accessible to students.

This is the book I needed for my class and the only one my University had was the newest edition for a crazy $90. So happy to find this on Amazon and from a very good seller too. The book had some very minor damage on the cover and I was expecting that along with bent pages; for a used book it's exactly what I expected!
