This one was bad guys I hated it. Mia talks to her friend Phil aboutsome guy she likes and he tells her he is on the DL. I think I rather read about Phil he seems more interesting. Don't let me get on the editing....felt like I was trying to read the word more than the story.

This book was such a letdown. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because you can tell there is a storyline there it just doesn't evolve as it should. There is too much mention of irrelevent things and very very very poor editing.

Dandekar - Petroleum Reservoir ....Properties

I bought this book as a source for material in my graduate courses in reservoir characterization and reservoir geology. There are no single, good references for my courses in the geological literature. Most, as this one, are in the petroleum engineering literature. I read some selections from this book online [fortunately that is possible now] and found that it is a readable text, it's well organized, and the level of difficulty is not too high. I may assign sections for class reading but mainly I will incorporate in my own lectures some of the concepts, ideas for homework problems, and additional references. The strong points of this book are: 1) it reads well, 2) it's pretty easily understandable to someone with a background in the subject, and 3) it is written as a textbook with exercises and examples. The weak points are: 1) because this text is on rocks and fluids, a lot of the material on fluids and fluid properties is not helpful for my courses that focus mainly on rock and petrophysical characteristics, 2) the price is a little high for students, and 3) I'm not sure it's widely marketed and generally available.

The book doesn't have that many numeric examples in it! It is though useful for a Petroleum Engineer, the literature is more strong than the mathematical part.

Too many errors. I could not get past the spelling "pearl" for "purl". This book must not have had any editor. I am glad I did not spend money for it. Bi read the patterns and deleted it.

Good book for beginners with some experience

It is a really great book for knitters with a little more knowledge than just beginners (but not necesarily as much as intermediate level). The knitter should already know how to read patterns, and have developed a level of patience for not so small projects, but otherwise the book not only offers easy to follow instructions, but also patterns that teach you different techniques and help you feel more confident to tackle future projects.

Good book, although dated.

Fast Algorithms for Digital Signal Processing does cover DSP techniques (primarily FFT and convolution). It also has a few chapters covering the mathematical background of these algorithms, which is helpful to the beginner. There isn't any code, although algorithms are described in flowcharts and pseudo-code... It's a good book, but has the drawback that it's old and doesn't cover newer techniques (parallel algorithms).
