This story is told in a disjointed manner, jumping from character tocharacter, with the point of view shifting as the characters change. This tangled web is very effective fortelling this story as it fits the tangled emotions and frustration lacedthrough the story.

Bad

I feel cheated. Someone noted that this would be controversial. I have to completely disagree. Controversy would imply some sort of belief system...some opinion. It's terrible! There is not one single person that I can say I liked at all. They are ridiculous in their one dimensional lack of personality. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about any of them and someone doen't seem to like women very much' not that the male characters are any better. Without trying to give away the story, there is actually a young girl who quite stupidly believes that harassing telephone calls she's making to women who've recently had an abortion for a summer job are part of some sort of legitimate research project and a woman is "tricked" into trying to find her rapist and "start a family" because if they can get married, she'll be able to get her aborted fetus back from wherever it is she's able to call her. The leader of this antiabortion group is beyond disgusting. I paid very little for this book, but I still feel cheated. I finished it only to see how it would be wrapped up and even that was lacking. I will be removing this from my Amazon account because I wouldn't want anyone to see that I've actually read this. Best advice? Save your money because it definitely is not worth it!

Caution: Potentially Offensive

First of all, I want to caution anyone who attempts to read this book. This is an adult book filled with profanity and sexual descriptions. Nothing is held back, and it is not to be read by the faint of heart. This book will probably offend anyone who reads this (at least in some way), so don't look at this book as a "light read." It will upset you, and you may find yourself not wanting to even finish it. Note--you have been warned!
After that first paragraph, you would probably expect me to give this a low rating, but nothing could be further from the truth. I am giving this a five-star rating, and I can assure you that this is one of the most difficult, upsetting book I have ever read. I was challenged, angered, and often disgusted as I read this book. The topic is something that is one of those "hot" topics that is very close to my heart. Let it be known that I am pro-life, and I would never consider an abortion for any reason, and I would never counsel anyone to get one. On the other hand, I would never want to be considered as a militant pro-lifer who shouts obscenities outside abortion clinics at those who are choosing to get an abortion. I believe that everyone has to make their own choices in this area, but I will always vote pro-life, and I am not ashamed to say it.
One thing this book did was it got me inside the heads of women who were getting abortions or considering this procedure. I had never considered the other side before, and I at least feel I understand why women who get raped may wish to abort the child within them. While I couldn't do it, I would never condemn anyone who made this decision. Being inside a woman's brain as she gets and abortion was a crazy place to be, and I have to admit it was quite intriguing.
To even conceive that something as horrendous as this book could happen is a truly scary thought. I discussed a lot of what I was reading with my mom. I said that probably nothing like this could happen, but she pointed out that we truly have no idea that something like the Movement is not happening. Tobin, the leader of the movement, is one of the most frightening characters I have ever read about in a book. This book was written in a truly realistic style, and although not everything ended as I might have liked it to--there are still a lot of loose ends that are not tied up--I believe it ended the way it needed to.
I am basically a sheltered woman, and I rarely know what is going on in the "underworld." I still find myself seeking refuge in my Christian bubble. This book caused me to not only step outside this bubble but to burst it! If you are looking for a book that will upset you like very few ever will, you may wish to check out this book.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia is a very dark, intense and disturbing story that deals with some very serious societal issues: rape, adultery, incest and abortion. Author Mack Mulluncey weaves a gritty tale full of graphic descriptions and strong language that provides a lot of shock value as the reader turns the pages. This is by far not an easy book to read, I found it to be a very disturbing story with a large cast of characters and alternating points of view that rambled on and made it hard to embrace and was a very unpleasant story to stomach. While I may not think that this story is my cup of tea, the author does make you stop and think about the issues that she wrote about if you can get past the very graphic scenes. This evocative, controversial and emotionally charged book may not be for everyone, but it most certainly will make the reader sit up and take notice of the serious societal issues that the author has described in her book.
